“Second Wind” performs an acoustic eclectic mix of Rock, Blues, Folk, Fusion, Country and do not fit into any clear-cut labels. Their music can be defined as “Americana”, consisting of all American Pop Styles. This duet was developed to present Phil’s Singing, Songwriting and guitar work, accompanied by Dick’s harmonies and creative bass guitar abilities. Their repertoire of material consists of a balance of originals and cover songs of some of their favorite artists. With Phil and Dick, you are likely to hear carefully selected cover songs from a list of artists that include Eric Clapton, Leo Kottke, James Taylor, Robert Johnson, Beatles, Stephen Stills, and John Prine among others.
Phil & Dick’s performances are fun and personal. Their diversity has earned them a loyal group of fans of all ages with enthusiastic responses to their dynamic live performances. Phil and Dick had their debut performance at the 2005 Tucson Kitchen Musician Association’s 20th Annual Folk Festival on the Old Town Artisans Stage. This year they were presented at the 2006 TKMA’s 21st Annual Folk Festival on the Main Plaza Stage.
Phil Borzillo:
In 2005, Phil performed at the TKMA Folk Festival, The Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation Blues Festival at Reid Park, and, The Big AZ Music Festival. Playing the guitar since the third grade, Phil has passed through many musical phases in his life, which he brings together as an eclectic mix of musical styles. His extraordinary guitar work, soulful vocals and creative songwriting abilities come together as a dynamic mix of music enjoyed by people of all ages. His performances are always fun, unpredictable and personal.
Dick Furlow:
Dick began his professional musical career as one of the founding members of The Bob Meighan Band, which was one of Arizona’s premier bands on the mid 1970’s. They opened shows in the Phoenix area for some of the biggest acts of the time like Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Stills and many others. The band did a 4-year stint with Capitol Records with two albums to show and touring Europe as the opening act and back-up band for French sensation Veroniques Sanson. Dick’s creative approach to bass guitar, his soulful background vocals, and his experiences as a seasoned musician come together to bring the perfect finishing touch to the sounds of “Second Wind”.
